KeymasterWHAT TRANSITIONS PERIODS ARE WITHIN A FAMILY?
by Cristina Panagiotakopoulou
Characteristics of transition periods.
Transitions within a family are related to those periods where adjustments are observed, changes in the relationship dynamics, and the everyday routine of its members. They are usually turning points for those involved. As such, it is likely to cause anxiety, disorganization as well as feelings of sadness, ambivalence, and depression. One of those transition periods is when children reach adulthood and leave home for the first time.
The empty nest syndrome
The mother is required to manage the separation with the children and to redefine the parental role. This period in a woman’s life may also coincide with the middle age period. Women are facing other challenges such as menopause, reconsidering of intimate relationships, aging of their parents, and possible changes in her professional life.

ParticipantThis is a very interesting topic. This situation affects not just the women but the whole family.
Men should also be informed on the subject.

KeymasterWOMEN AND IDENTITY DURING TRANSITION PERIODS
by Christina Panagiotakopoulou
Μotherhood is one of the most important roles in a woman’s life and that is why she put other aspects of herself aside. When children depart from home to live their own life away from the family, the role of motherhood comes out of the limelight. Women are called to reconnect with themselves.
How do women experience such a life change? How they can connect with themselves and their family again, in a positive, creative way?
